1st Thoughts on...."Battlefield: Bad Company 2"

He's so bad, he doesn't notice he's on fire.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is EA Games' sequel to the 2008 shooter Bad Company. Importantly, it is EA's own counter-attack to the heavily-favored Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The story takes place in October 1944, a group of commandos infiltrate an Imperial Japanese Navy-controlled island in the Sea of Japan. They secure a Japanese scientist who was working on a secret scalar weapon codenamed 'The Black Weapon' and escape the island on a submarine. But as foreshadowed by the scientist's warnings the commandos witness Aurora being fired and perish from a resulting tsunami, and this sparked a myth within the U.S. Army, which has been dubbed as "Operation Aurora". In the present day, Privates Preston Marlowe, Terrence Sweetwater, George Haggard, and Sergeant Samuel Redford fight behind enemy lines in Russia in attempt to secure a device related to scalar weaponry. Despite escaping Russian soldiers and completing their believed final mission in their service, the device is discovered to be a fake. Being impressed with their previous activities, Army General Braidwood assigns them to a special operation of contacting Agent Aguire, much to the disappointment of Redford who had hoped to retire after the last mission.

Thank You Wikipedia.

Anyways, story isn't that quite important. It's a war. You'll live. Or you'll die. But I'm betting you'll live. I went to Boyztrek (a famous internet cafe near our school) to play COD: MW2. When I've stumble on this, I couldn't help but to try this game. Just a few months back with its release, this game made a huge impact to the gaming community, almost claiming the top spot from its MW2 counterpart. So I went on play this game and it was quite impressive, despite the fact that I'm a Call of Duty fanboy. The graphics were really crisp and high-def-ish. This game was built for the new-age PC. It felt like a movie even if you were already playing the game.

Trust me, you could see the cows on the grassy plain.

Other than that, the gameplay was really realistic. So realistic that it felt like your character reacts on how you would react in a war. You can't jump high (because your gun is heavy), you don't get tired sprinting (someone's shooting you with a gun, you want to take a rest?), you can't do stupid things (I really wanted to fire early, but my Sergeant told me to stay put), and of course your aim doesn't get stable in certain times.

Proper crouching is necessary to make a steady aim, duh.

You just can't run and shoot. The game gives you a feel of a real soldier, taking certain element of war combat. You don't get lucky by getting a kill. You must earn it. I know that all FPS War games do, but this is actually the 1st time that I felt a game puts a much more realistic feel that any other FPS war games I have played before.

And because you ain't this guy.

Well after one hour of playing, I decided to play the game that I was suppose to play, COD Modern Warfare 2 (I had some unfinished business with some dogs). I didn't stop playing because I didn't like it, but because I wasn't planning on spending the next 6 hours playing this game and having to pay around 90 pesos (although its much cheaper if you try to finish this in the internet cafe rather than buying a copy). Bad Company 2 offers a helluva of a time. Graphics are great, gameplay is top-notch realistic and of course, proper strategic planning is really...really...very much needed. But comparing the two games COD:Modern Warfare 2 and BF:Bad Company 2, I'll still choose Call of Duty. Call of Duty is arcade style, fast-paced game while BC2 is just so realistic, that it might get boring at times. And because I couldn't figure out the LAN multiplayer, so probably me and my friends won't be able to play it. Well, this ain't a review of the game, it's just my 1st thought, so, what can I suggest? Well, it is a must try for any gamer, especially to those who loves first-person shooters. It is the most "near-photo realistic" and "one of the best looking games around. The online shooter at its most streamlined, most thoughtful, most exhilarating. And yes I just copy-paste those because I just can't find the words to describe this game.

The game is so glorious, your character dies looking up in the sky.

If you have a very powerful PC, this is a must be installed in your PC. If you don't have one (like me), then this is a must reason why you should visit the nearest internet cafe. Bad Company 2 is the hottest war shooter today.
But I'll stick with this one for the mean time. I still have to burn those stupid dogs.
